Historic waterfront
The restoration of a Georgian riverside property located on the desirable Strand on the Green terrace. Croft undertook the structural alterations to the main house and garden studio including an additional storey and basement.
Mixing old with new
With a wealth of Heritage and conservation expertise, Croft provided a distinctive and thoughtful engineering approach to address historic repair details and necessary alterations to the main house. Through strategic design and precise placement of the basement box, Croft successfully circumvented costly and unnecessary underpinning of one of the party walls.
Getting to the root of it
Designing the garden studio posed challenges due to the high water table and the presence of large trees, including a mature magnolia in the neighbouring garden. The foundations were designed to NHBC guidance. By carefully assessing ground conditions and implementing a clever design of cantilevered reinforced concrete support, Croft minimised the need for excessive excavation work.
