Designing for tight sites
New build construction of a tight inner city site; a new basement and a 4-storey home. A new basement was formed in between two existing buildings, both of which were owned by a private hospital.
Expect the unexpected
Site investigations were completed, however, during excavations a large old ice store was uncovered that curved across the site and under the adjacent property. The walls were underpinned with new reinforced retaining walls which provided a strong foundation. The upper floors were constructed of a steel frame with timber floors and masonry walls.
Party wall awards were worked out with 5 different owners, each with their own surveyor and their own opinions
More than just design
Croft Structural + Civil brought more than design knowledge to the build. We also utilised our extensive data base of contractors, ground works and fabricators to help in the tender pro-cess. All of the contractors used were chosen from those recommended by us. A quality recommendation is worth it's weight in gold or in this case a saving of £35k to the client.
