Challenging Site
These 3 High end family homes were built in the heart of East Dulwich. The site was challenging as there were particular constraints that required careful design consideration.
Deep loads
The ground was poor and an old tree had resulted in desiccation of the soil. To prevent subsidence the new building was designed on site on piles that placed the loads deep into the ground.
Timber frame approach
A fast program was called for and therefore a timber frame approach was decided upon. Typically timber frame engineers provide a design that results in the cheapest for them but not for the project. Croft Structural Engineers reviewed the design and had the timber frame redesigned to minimise the amount of ground works necessary. The cost saving on this item alone covered all of Croft Structural Engineers fees.
