Low cost housing

This project was a 2 phase development. The first phase was the conversion of an existing property into 32 flats. Phase 1 provided for the low cost housing that allowed the high cost housing to be constructed in Phase 2.

Importance of investigations

The initial intention was a renovation of the existing building in phase 1. Opening up and investigation work found that the building used High Alumina concrete. This type of concrete is known to deteriorate over time. The final solution resulted in the building being demolished. The existing foundations were adequate and reused to support the new build.

Material analysis

Testing the concrete is the only way to be sure that it is High Alumina Cement. Our investigations saved the client time and money in the long run.
